What a week - every night a party. Last night it was The Interior Design Hall of Fame in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. This benefit party has grown to 1100 attendees, and it honors some of the worlds greatest designers. Inducted this year were Shigeru Ban of Shigeru Ban Architects; Neil Denari of Neil M. Denari Architects; and Karim Rashid of Karim Rashid Inc. Former editor in chief of Architectural Digest and 1985 Hall of Fame inductee Paige Rense, was honored with the introductory 2010 Design Icon Award.
The Dune owners, Richard and Aaron Shemtov invited me to sit at their table. Here Richie is with the glamorous Amy Lau:
And here I am with Zoe Star Small, an Architect with Diller Scofidio Renfro, and Tyler Wisler, Senior Designer at Michael Braverman.
It was a grand affair, and Cindy Allen, Editor-in-Chief of Interior Design was master of ceremonies. She carries the mantel well. She is earnest, and loves design so much, and it really comes through when she is up there speaking. I love Cindy.
Next up, tonight, the Interior Design Best of Year Awards - for which Harry Allen Design created the actual award - and for which Pipeline is up for an award in the category of Seating: Contract/Guest - and then I rest.
